This is a painting of our very small valley. There is a stream below the hill. The view is from my studio and is of the hill across the way. The hill behind us, our trees and house are what is casting the shadow at the bottom of the painting.
This is a shed on a neighboring property. There's a large hill to the left of this scene and every night that we can see the sun setting it throws shadows across the landscape. I think of the famous Balthus landscape every time I see it. I'll paint more of these scenes in the coming days.
I have always loved this tree. It is a Silver Maple next to our house. It's large enough to catch lots of snow, unfortunately that has caused it quite a bit of damage over the years.
I just happened to look outside late in the afternoon to see this thick, heavy fog. I swear, only artists and folks in auto body shops get excited about fog.
This is a painting of a ramp inside Grand Central Terminal, NYC. This particular ramp goes from street level to one of my favorite eateries, The Oyster Bar.
This is a nearby church that I've painted a few times. This is the first painting of a planned series of scenes from this one particular afternoon. Snow, clouds and waning daylight, how could it miss?
