 2011, Graphite on Paper, 7"x 9.5"

Drapery Study, 2

2011, Graphite on Paper, 7"x 9.5"

More drapery. I tell my students that if they learn to draw drapery well,  they can then draw anything. This is usually met with much eye rolling, which they think I can't see.

Drapery Study, 1

2011, Graphite on Paper, 9.5"x 7"

While I am preparing for my Exhibit at Wilson College and getting ready for school to start (this is the second year of my Artist Residency at James Buchanan HS) I thought that I would post some drawings that I did last year while teaching drawing to my incredibly talented students.

2012, Oil on Canvas, 7"x 5"
#019

Zoe is modeling for us at the portrait that I am teaching at the Council for the Arts in Chambersburg, PA. I wish that I could have spent more time on this, but those pesky students kept asking questions.

Rain Over the Mountain

2012, Oil on Canvas, 5"x 7"
#018

This is a painting of the Tuscarora Mountains near Fort Loudon, PA. It is the view from the parking lot at James Buchanan High School, where I am the Resident Artist. This is a timely painting since I start back to school in one week. God, help me.

Titan Falls

2012, Oil on Canvas, 5"x 7"
Paint Series
#017

For those of you who are not burdened with being a painter, the title refers to the paint color which is Titanium White. The tricky part is how to make a colorful painting of white paint.

The Tree Line

2012, Oil on Canvas, 2.5"x 12"
#016

This is a scene that I passed twice a day for an entire school year. Of course when I actually decided to paint it, I had to make a special trip to photograph it (yes, sometimes I use photographs). Time management, not my specialty.

Chip

2012, Oil on Canvas, 5"x 4"
#015

Just one of the many plates, bowls and cups that get broken along the way in our house. I've always believed in the idea of making lemonade.
