This is a painting of a building in Mercersburg, PA. I would pass it every Wednesday as I made my way from the High School to teach my painting class at the Museum. I would inevitably get caught at the light each time. I studied this scene once a week for nine months. Gestation period?
More drapery. I tell my students that if they learn to draw drapery well, they can then draw anything. This is usually met with much eye rolling, which they think I can't see.
While I am preparing for my Exhibit at Wilson College and getting ready for school to start (this is the second year of my Artist Residency at James Buchanan HS) I thought that I would post some drawings that I did last year while teaching drawing to my incredibly talented students.
